چکیده

An Eγ,jet ∝ E ′ p 1.5 relationship with a small scatter for current γ-ray burst (GRB) data was recently reported, where Eγ,jet is the beaming-corrected γ-ray energy and E ′ p is the νFν peak energy in the local observer frame. By considering this relationship for a sample of 12 GRBs with known redshift, peak energy, and break time of afterglow light curves, we constrain the mass density of the universe and the nature of dark energy. We find that the mass density ΩM = 0.35±0.15 0.15 (at the 1σ confident level) for a flat universe with a cosmological constant, and the w parameter of an assumed static dark-energy equation of state w = −0.84±0.57 0.83 (1σ). Our results are consistent with those from type Ia supernovae. A larger sample established by the upcoming Swift satellite is expected to provide further constraints. Cosmologi al impli ations of Gamma Ray Bursts

The discovery that the bolometric energetics (and/or peak luminosity) of Gamma Ray Bursts correlates with their spectral properties has allowed to standardize the burst energetics to such a degree to enable their use for constraining the cosmological parameters, in the same way as SN Ia. With respect to SN Ia, there is the advantage of having sources free from extinction problems, and easily de...

Constraining the Cosmological Parameters and Transition Redshift with Gamma-Ray Bursts and Supernovae

A new method of measuring cosmology with gamma-ray bursts(GRBs) has been proposed by Liang and Zhang recently. In this method, only observable quantities including the rest frame peak energy of the νFν spectrum (E ′ p), the isotropic energy of GRB (Eγ,iso), and the break time of the optical afterglow light curves in the rest frame (t ′ b) are used. By considering this method we constrain the co...

Gamma Ray Bursts: Complementarity to Other Cosmological Probes

We combine recent long Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs) sample including 52 objects out to z=6.3 compiled from Swift Gamma Ray Bursts by Schaefer (2006) with Type Ia Supernova (SNIa), Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and Baryon Oscillation (BAO) to constrain cosmologies. We study the constraints arising from GRBs alone and the complementarity of GRBs to other cosmological probes. To analyze the cosmolo...

Probing cosmological parameters with GRBs

In light of the recent finding of the narrow clustering of the geometrically-corrected gamma-ray energies emitted by Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs), we investigate the possibility to use these sources as standard candles to probe cosmological parameters such as the matter density Ωm and the cosmological constant energy density ΩΛ. By simulating different samples of gamma-ray bursts, based on recent ob...

Constraining dark energy with gamma - ray bursts

We use the cosmology-independent gamma-ray burst (GRB) distances of Wang (2008) to constrain dark energy cosmological model parameters. Current GRB data alone can not tightly constrain cosmological parameters and allow for a wide range of dark energy models. When used jointly with current Type Ia supernovae data and baryon acoustic peak measurements, the GRB data favor slightly lower values of ...
